Identity

Aims and Scope: Identity: An International Journal of Theory and Research, under the sponsorship of the International Society for Research on Identity (ISRI), is international in scope and serves as a publication venue for identity-related work across a broad range of fields including, but not limited to, psychology, sociology, anthropology, human development, education, gender studies, family studies, and psychiatry. Comparable consideration will be accorded manuscripts looking at the expression of identity within the full range of cultures and cultural contexts. Reports of empirical research involving both quantitative and qualitative methodologies are welcomed. So too are submissions of integrative literature reviews that provide a foundation for hypothesis development, manuscripts advancing the theoretical understanding of identity, and manuscripts presenting innovations in methodologies for the study of identity or which compare the strengths and limitations of existing methodologies.

As the construct of identity refers to the multiple and complex ways in which individuals come to define themselves, whether by choice or ascription, manuscripts addressing any of the many domains in which such self-definitions develop are included within the scope of material published. Such domains include, but are not limited to, ethnic identity, vocational identity, religious identity, political identity, gender identity, sexual identity, and identity established within a relationship context, such as with a romantic partner or as a parent. Also welcome are analyses pertaining to work on possible selves and multiple selves, identity politics, self-realization, and identity-related disorders.

Peer Review Policy: All articles in this Journal have undergone rigorous anonymous double-blind peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous refereeing by two to four anonymous referees.

Publication office: Taylor & Francis, Inc., 325 Chestnut Street, Suite 800, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
