OMICS Applications in Crop Science

The omics era in plant science started when genome sequencing commenced, and since then several plant genomes have been completely sequenced and extraction of the genomic information has been implemented for production of high-yielding and disease/stress-resistant plants. With the advent of high-throughput omics technologies, the number of complete plant genome sequences is rapidly increasing. This genomic information, along with transcriptomics-, porteomics-, and metabolomics-based approaches, is leading plant sciences toward the next generation green revolution.
