Cognitive Neuroscience of Consciousness

Understanding the neurocognitive mechanisms underlying consciousness is a central challenge in 21st century science. This special issue reports novel experimental and theoretical findings that directly address this challenge. As well as a keynote article proposing a ‘neural stance’ on consciousness, its contents explore aspects of visual awareness, consciousness of the body and self, and time perception, among other issues.
