Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine: an Open Access Journal (HPBM) publishes theoretical and empirical contributions on all aspects of research and practice into psychosocial, behavioral and biomedical aspects of health. HPBM publishes international, interdisciplinary research with diverse methodological approaches on:

 

  • Assessment and diagnosis
  • Narratives, experiences and discourses of health and illness
  • Treatment processes and recovery
  • Health cognitions and behaviors at population and individual levels
  • Psychosocial an behavioral prevention interventions
  • Psychosocial determinants and consequences of behavior
  • Social and cultural contexts of health and illness, health disparities
  • Health, illness and medicine
  • Application of advanced information and communication technology

 

Launched in 2013, HPBM is an Open Access online publication, meaning that papers are immediately accessible online enabling anyone to read, download and share the research. All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to double blind peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees.
 
The standard article publishing fee is US$750 / £575 / €665, with discounts and waivers being considered on a case-by-case basis based on location of lead author. Requests for discounts and waivers should be made at the time of submission through the Journal’s ScholarOne Manuscripts site.

Readership

The journal provides access to essential new research for those involved in the study, teaching and application of the behavioral, psychological, social and biological aspects of health and illness. This includes psychologists, psychiatrists, physicians, medical practitioners, nursing scientists and practitioners, health educators, public health researchers, counselors and therapists, behavioral scientists, and other health care professionals.
