Designed as a field guide and a reference, this book includes photographs of exposed geologic sections, stratotype localities, collection sites, and details of interesting fossil beds. It contains 124 full-page illustrations, 43 black and white plates of index fossils, and 12 color plates of simulated space shuttle images of Florida’s ancient seas and coastlines. The text is accompanied by a CD-ROM featuring animated maps along with a PowerPoint presentation of simulated space shuttle imagery of Eocene-to-Holocene Florida. The book brings together the perspectives of various geoscientists to provide an overview of the geology, paleontology, and paleoceanography of the region.
